I never thought this was possible, but you can play a flash flv video in quicktime on the mac with the plugin perian. Sadly no longer being developed 2013!

By accident I deleted the Network icon from the window sidebar which contains shortcuts. I tried to drag it back onto the sidebar but it didn't work.
